When we first started making shooting jackets nearly thirty years ago the accepted theory was that a shooting jacket was merely a garment to hang pads on to protect the pressure points.

We changed all that. We proved that a good shooting jacket should fit the wearer properly, in such a way that it not only protected the pressure points but - most importantly - gave firm support to the wearer across the shoulders. We pre-curved the sleeves by clever design and cutting, not only to give extra comfort, but also to ensure that the elbow-pads do not slip around the elbows.

Ever since that time Andrew Tucker Jackets have contributed to the successes of shooters in many disciplines, and continue to do so today.

All our jackets are made to the same basic design and incorporate generous back pockets, rubber on the elbows, sling loop, concealed front zip fastening, pre-curved sleeves for extra comfort, right or left handed, ready-made in sizes 34” to 48” chest (subject to availability), or made-to-measure at no extra charge.

There are currently three models in the range:

The “European” Cloth Jacket. Designed with the club shooter in mind this is a simple, entry-level jacket. Made from a single thickness of non-stretch cotton it incorporates all the features mentioned above. Most sizes are available ex-stock or can be made-to-measure at no extra cost. For young shooters who are still growing we can put in double seams - again at no extra cost.

The “Double Canvas” Jacket. Made from two layers of 15oz canvas this ever popular jacket is available in green, red, white and blue canvas. Suede-covered padding on the arms and shoulders is in green, red or blue and can be mixed or matched according to your choice. A coarser, stiffer canvas may be used for the outer layer on request which offers more rigid support and is ideal for withstanding the rigours of use in a busy club environment.

The “Auckland” Leather Jacket. First introduced following Andrew Tucker's success in the Commonwealth Games in Auckland, New Zealand, this jacket is made from bull hide and is lined with 15oz canvas. Available in a wide range of colours which can be mixed or matched according to your taste, this jacket offers all that the top-level marksman could ask for.

For clubs, schools or similar organisations where several shooters may need to share the same jacket, we can make the “European” and “Double Canvas” Jackets with a sling-loop on both shoulders and padding on both sides of the jacket enabling use by both right and left handed shooters. We think we have it just about right - and so do thousands of shooters who wear our jackets. However we have made additions to the range over the years and are constantly looking to enhance the design by introducing refinements wherever necessary.
